Education in Technology and Computer Science

EDUCATION IN TECHNOLOGY AND COMPUTER SCIENCE

Education in technology and computer science was established as one of the fields of study at LTU in 1989 yr. The course has been delivered in two levels: BEng. (7 semesters) and MSc (3 semesters). The full course is designed as interdisciplinary in technology and computer science combined with complex background in pedagogy, psychology, sociology and management of human resources in various industrial branches, administration and in research. The responsible Departments for this field of study are Dept. of Technology Fundamentals and Dept. of teaching methods and techniques.

Students can develop their particular preferences in the following special courses at the second level course:

• computer graphic and multimedia in technology, business and education
• computer science and technology
• electronics and computer networks
• engineering in safety systems

Graduates are able to take up jobs in

• in industrial enterprises where computer systems are operated and at the same time knowledge in technology is required,
• in machine and electrotechnology industry as specialists in management of operation
• at schools as teachers of vocational education, computer science teachers and also teachers in technology (including universities)
• administration and service of computer systems in all types of institutions
• in computer firms and self-employment where didactic multimedia tools are designed and produced.
