On 1 June, a ten-member delegation from the “eDron” Student Research Group, operating at the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology, visited PCO company - Poland’s largest manufacturer of optoelectronic equipment, specialising in night vision, thermal imaging and laser technologies. The visit was also attended by Prof. Mariusz Śniadkowski, and the group’s supervisor, Grzegorz Stachyra, PhD.

The students visited the Mechatronic Design Department and the Algorithms and Image Processing Department, where they had the opportunity to see the practical side of engineering and research work carried out at the company. A particularly interesting part of the visit was the presentation of the SEEKER project, which aims to develop a family of optoelectronic seeker heads for guided missiles. PCO company is the leader of the scientific and industrial consortium responsible for the project.

The visit was a valuable opportunity to compare the knowledge gained at the university with advanced solutions used in the optoelectronics industry and to speak directly with engineers about modern image processing technologies and their applications. For the members of the “eDron” Student Research Group, it was a valuable experience that broadened their knowledge of technologies that are also important from the perspective of unmanned systems.
